Experts recommend that young passengers travel backwards until they are at least 4 years old – only at this age the toddler's spine and neck muscles strengthen enough to withstand the stresses that arise when braking sharply or impacted.

The best car seat – adapted to the child and the car

A functional, safe car seat should be adapted to the child – to his weight, height and figure – but also to the car. To do its job well, it must fit properly on the seat. Before making the final purchase, it is worth "trying on" a given model in reality. When choosing a child seat, it is also worth considering the type of assembly. According to popular opinion, models mounted on ISOFIX are safer than those on car belts, but this is not entirely true. In the case of seat belts, you simply need to pay more attention to routing and tightening them correctly, so installation may take a little longer.

Finally, it is worth taking a closer look at the details: the type of upholstery, the length of the seat or the possibility of adjusting the height of the headrest or the inclination of the backrest. All this contributes to the little passenger's driving comfort – and the parents' peace of mind.
