Car seat replacement after an accident – how it works?
If a car seat has been involved in a collision or accident, it should no longer be used. Even if no damage is visible, its structure may have been compromised, which could reduce the level of protection for the child in future journeys. To ensure the safety of young passengers, the manufacturer offers a post-accident car seat replacement service, allowing you to receive a new unit.
1. Sending documents to the manufacturer
To start the replacement process, please send the complete set of documents immediately to [email protected]. Please prepare:
- proof of purchase of the car seat (the seat must have been purchased no earlier than 2 years before the incident),
- a police report or other document confirming the accident,
- a document from your insurance company confirming that the seat was not covered by a claim,
- photos of the seat or the car after the incident.
Providing all documents at once makes the replacement process smoother and faster.
2. Returning the car seat to the manufacturer
After sending the documents, the car seat should be returned to the manufacturer’s headquarters. This step ensures the seat is safely removed from circulation and prevents potential reuse.
3. Verification of the submission
The manufacturer reviews the documents and the condition of the seat. After successful verification, the customer receives confirmation of the replacement approval.
4. Receiving a new car seat
Once verification is complete, the manufacturer sends a new car seat — usually the same model or its updated version. This ensures the child can travel safely again.
